This policy explains what personal information Soho Social collects through our website and at our events, why we collect it, and what your rights are. We keep it to what we need, and we never sell your details.

What we collect and why
Our email list
If you sign up on our website or by scanning one of our QR codes, we collect your first name and email address. We use them to send you our weekly line-up, news about upcoming shows and early access to tickets.
- Our legal basis: your consent. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of every email.
- We use Mailchimp (Intuit Inc.) to store the list and send our emails. Mailchimp also tells us whether emails were opened or links clicked, so we can see what people are interested in.
Contact and booking enquiries
If you use our contact form or room booking enquiry form, or email us, we collect your name, email address and anything you write in your message, such as dates and numbers for a private booking.
- Our legal basis: to reply to you and, for bookings, to take the steps you’ve asked for before agreeing a booking.
- Form messages are stored on our website and sent to our inbox.
Tickets
Tickets for our live shows are sold through Skiddle. Tickets for comedy nights in The Comedy Shop are sold through Eventbrite or The Comedy Shop’s own website. When you buy a ticket, the ticket seller collects your details and payment under its own privacy policy. We don’t see or store your card details.
- The ticket seller may share your name and order details with us so we can manage the guest list on the night. We use these only for running the event and delete them 6 months after the event.
WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger
If you message us on WhatsApp or Facebook Messenger, those services (run by Meta) handle your messages under their own privacy policies. We only use what you send us to reply to you.
Website statistics and cookies
With your permission, we use Google Analytics (through Google Site Kit) and Jetpack Stats (from WordPress.com) to understand how people use our website, such as which pages are popular. These use cookies or similar technology. They don’t tell us who you are.
- Our legal basis: your consent, which you give or refuse using the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time. See our Cookie policy for the full list.
- A few cookies are essential to make the site work. These don’t need consent.
- With your permission, we use the Meta Pixel from Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd. It tells us when people who have seen our Facebook or Instagram adverts visit our website, so we can measure how well our adverts work and show them to people likely to be interested. It uses cookies and sends Meta information such as your IP address and the pages you visit. Our legal basis is your consent, which you give or refuse using the cookie banner. Meta also uses this information under its own privacy policy.
Maps and ticket boxes on our pages
Some pages show a Google Map or a Skiddle ticket box. These are loaded from Google and Skiddle, which may set their own cookies and receive information such as your IP address, just as if you visited their sites directly.
Photos at our events
We sometimes take photos and short videos at our events and share them on our website and social media. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in promoting the venue. If you’d rather not appear, tell a member of staff on the night or email us, and we’ll remove any photo of you that we’ve posted.
Running the website
Our website is hosted by WordPress.com (Automattic Inc.), which processes technical information such as IP addresses to keep the site running and secure.
Who we share your information with
We only share your information with the services that help us run Soho Social:
- Mailchimp (Intuit Inc.): our email list
- WordPress.com and Jetpack (Automattic Inc.): website hosting, forms and statistics
- Google: website statistics and maps
- Skiddle and Eventbrite: ticket sales
- Meta (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger): measuring our adverts, if you accept marketing cookies, and messages you send us there
We never sell your information. We’ll only share it with anyone else if the law requires us to.
Information sent outside the UK
Some of these services are based in the USA. They protect UK personal information using safeguards approved under UK law, such as the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum.
How long we keep it
- Email list: until you unsubscribe. We also remove people who haven’t opened any of our emails in 2 years.
- Enquiries: up to 2 years after we last hear from you, unless they lead to a booking, in which case we keep booking records for as long as we need them for our accounts.
- Guest lists from ticket sellers: 6 months after the event.
- Website statistics: kept by Google and Jetpack under their own retention settings.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
- ask us to correct it if it’s wrong
- ask us to delete it
- object to us using it, or ask us to limit how we use it
- withdraw your consent at any time, for example by unsubscribing from our emails
To do any of these, email hello@soho-social.com. We’ll reply within one month.
Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, please tell us first and we’ll do our best to put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes to this policy
We’ll update this page if anything changes, and the date at the top will show when it was last updated.
